Meet us

ATHRA would be just a vague idea without the dedication and hours invested by its amazing team!

With ATHRA, we aim to transform the young Assyrian (Chaldean and Syriac) generation of the diaspora by reconnecting them to their ancestral lands; transmitting their identity, culture and language; and training them to become engaged citizens who are aware of their environment.

Agnes

With the trip, I wanted to connect my children with their homelands. To feel this land and for my children to share all of this with me.

Enuma Elish

In 2008, it was with my parents that I crossed the roads of Mesopotamia for the first time. It was magnificent! The color of the sun on the mountains, I have never forgotten it!

Jenny

Through this journey, I was finally able to explore the land of my ancestors and discover the history of a thousand-year-old civilization, that of the Assyrians, mine.

Joni & Semiramis

This trip allowed us to rediscover the lands of our parents, to maintain the link with Mesopotamia to better transmit our history and our culture to our daughters.

Ness & Françoise

For us, this trip was an opportunity to discover our history on our ancestral lands, and share it with our children. We also met the community and experienced the Akitu festivities. It was magical!

Amto Warde

I left my village Bespin in 1979. Since then, I have never returned there. Today, I am 70 years old and I was able to see Bespin again, the village of my childhood, where I experienced moments of joy but also of suffering.

PARTNERS & SPONSORS

The support of our local partners and sponsors is essential! Thanks to their commitment, our project of becoming a bridge between the diaspora and our lands in Mesopotamia comes to life.
